Drachenfels by ship and rack train

The Drachenfels with its romantic ruins and Drachenburg castle is certainly the most spectacular point of the legendary “Siebengebirge“-- the seven volcanic hills comprising a romantic landscape that has inspired generations of travellers.

You will go by ship from Bonn to Koenigswinter at the foot of the Drachenfels, enjoying the scenic views of Bonn and the hills from the Rhine. A short walk through the lovely historic town of Koenigswinter takes you to the historic rack train, which will bring you up to Drachenburg Castle, one of the most significant castle buildings of the late 19th century in Germany. The rooms of the castle offer a fascinating insight in a period of sophisticated splendour. The extensive grounds of the castle with ancient trees and majestic rhododendhrons invite visitors to a leisurely stroll with unforgettable views over the Rhine. A restaurant a little further up on the Drachenfels plateau offers refreshments (not included in conference fee).

Per rack train and ship you will make your way back to Bonn.
