Description

The ATLAS Experiment will undergo a major upgrade for the operation during the high luminosity era of the Large Hadron Collider. While all components of the detector will be upgraded in some way, the ATLAS tracking detector will be completely replaced by a new, all-silicon tracking detector. The new ATLAS Inner Tracker (ITk) will consist of a silicon pixel detector and a silicon strip detector.
In my presentation, I will talk about the layout of the ITk detector, which is driven by the expected physics performance, and the design of the ITk Pixel detector. I will explain how the electrical system of the ITk Pixel detector has evolved from the conceptual level to the eventually implemented design that is now in pre-production. In addition, I will summarise our recent contributions to the production of the local support structures. I will also briefly summarise the expected activities over the course of the next three years, during which the ITk Pixel detector will be under construction.
