Magnetic monopoles, particles carrying a single magnetic pole, were first hypothesized in 1931 by Paul Dirac. Since then it has been found that magnetic monopoles are predicted by some Grand Unified Theories (GUT). The search for magnetic monopoles has been a longstanding pursuit in the realm of particle physics. This presentation introduces a dedicated search for magnetic monopoles using data collected by the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The CMS experiment provides a unique platform to explore the existence of magnetic monopoles through their potential signatures in high-energy particle collisions.
The magnetic monopole search with CMS demonstrates the experiment's continued commitment to exploring beyond the established boundaries of particle physics.
