Description

Scientific Symposium for the inauguration of the FTD

We cordially invite you to a scientific symposium for the recent inauguration of the new Forschungs- und Technologiezentrum Detektorphysik (FTD) at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms Universität Bonn.

We are very much looking forward to your attendance.

Travel Information:

The symposium will take place at the FTD (Forschungs- und Technologiezentrum Detektorphysik)

Kreuzbergweg 24, 53115 Bonn

on August 18, 2023, at 13:00. The registration will start at 12:00.

By rail and foot

Leave Bonn central station by one of the west exits to the Quantiusstrasse and turn right. At the next corner move half left into Colmantstrasse and pass Beethovenplatz. Then follow Endenicher Strasse for about 800m and turn left into Wegelerstraße. The FTD is the last building on the left.

By car

The FTD can be reached either by a driveway from Wegelerstr. or by a driveway from Kreuzbergweg. At the FTD we have about 30 parking spots, which will be available for persons arriving by car. Please notify us if you intend to come by car to provide a sufficient amount of parking spots.

By air

Cologne Bonn Airport
Most convenient is to fly to Cologne Bonn Airport from which the institute is easily reached using the express coach service SB 60 directly to Bonn central station. After 1km at the second signal turn right onto Wittelsbacherring. Take the 3rd street on the right onto Beethovenplatz and then immediately right onto Endenicher Allee. Take the second street on the left onto Wegelerstraße.  The FTD is the last building on the left.

Düsseldorf International Airport
From Düsseldorf International Airport you can use the regional train service RE 5. It is scheduled to leave from the airport station once per hour towards Bonn central station. The airport station can be reached using the (free) Sky Train service.

Frankfurt International Airport
The fastest connection from Frankfurt International Airport to Bonn central station is a high speed train service (ICE) from the airport station to Bonn/Siegburg station. The connection to Bonn central station is provided by tram 66.

Hotels:

We reserved a few room in the President Hotel. Other hotels are also in walking distance and close to the Bonn central station.

Other Information:

We plan to start Friday at 13.00 with some introductory words from our FTD spokespersons followed by welcome addresses from the Rector of Bonn University as well as the Research Directors from DESY, GSI/FAIR and CERN. Afterwards the scientific symposium will start. A guided tour through the FTD will be possible for about 45 people.

A detailed schedule of the event can be found in the timetable.
