This talk will provide an overview of the solved challenges and evolution of the IT infrastructure of the institute and beyond in recent years and in the near future.
Since our last update, the IT services have adapted to the changed requirements for work, research and teaching during and after the pandemic; the desktop operating system has been changed, home directory storage was migrated, power saving measures were implemented and joint services operated across the Physics institutes have been taken into operation.
Within the last year, a server room has been put into operation, new rooms are planned, two projects have been started within the context of NFDI (National Research Data Infrastructure) and both public and internal websites and services are continuously extended and modernized.
The evolution of the BAF2 computing cluster in terms of hardware and software in recent years will be presented and we will take a look at future transformations and planned changes in the IT infrastructure.
