The talk will report the status of the field and introduce the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE). DUNE will be a world-class neutrino observatory and nucleon decay detector designed to answer these and other fundamental questions about the nature of elementary particles. Situated underground at SURF in the world's most intense neutrino beam and constructed as a modular liquid argon time-projection chamber (LArTPC), it will reconstruct interactions with image-like precision and unprecedented resolution. The presentation will give an introduction to the project and report on recent progress.
