DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Vava GLIGOROV\n\nAbstract: The real-time processing
  of data created by the Large Hadron Collider's (LHC) experiments\, amount
 ing to over 10% of worldwide internet traffic\, is one of the greatest com
 puting challenges ever attempted. I will discuss the concrete real-time pr
 ocessing challenges faced by one of the LHC's main experiments\, LHCb\, an
 d the technological innovations which have allowed these challenges to be 
 overcome. I will also reflect on the development of a community around rea
 l-time data processing within LHCb\, and describe the ways in which this c
 ommunity has expanded the physics reach of LHCb far beyond what was imagin
 ed when the experiment was initially proposed. Finally I will look ahead t
 o the challenges facing LHCb and other experiments in the high-luminosity 
 era of the LHC\, and touch on ways in which the widespread availability of
  precision timing in our detectors will transform real-time processing in
