 : This seminar explores the pivotal role of permanent magnets in the desi
 gn and operation of particle accelerators. Permanent magnets\, known for t
 heir ability to maintain a constant magnetic field without the need for ex
 ternal power\, offer significant advantages in terms of energy efficiency 
 and operational stability. Case studies are presented\, ranging from small
 er fixed-field devices to larger adjustable devices that can act as replac
 ements for electromagnets\, as well as undulators and wigglers for light s
 ource facilities. Highlights of recent advances in the field are presented
 \, as well as advantages and disadvantages of permanent magnet versus othe
