 chen)\n\nIn this talk I will summarize some recent new results in type IIB
  string theory. One is a subtle anomaly in the duality of type IIB\, which
  can be cancelled with various realization of a discrete or topological Gr
 een-Schwarz mechanism. The other is the analysis of type IIB string theory
  in the light of the Cobordism Conjecture\, which leads to a (re)discovery
  of various stringy objects and backgrounds. Among them is a new\, non-sup
 ersymmetric 7-brane\, whose properties and applications I will discuss in
