Re-establishing the regular "News from the IT department" series, we will present the evolution of the IT infrastructure of the institute in the past months and take a look at upcoming challenges.

This talk will also mark the beginning of a series taking a deeper dive into the technologies behind the services you are working with throughout the day. We will start with an in-depth look at the workload manager HTCondor and its scheduling of jobs on the computer cluster BUF2, and some of the intricacies which are required to ensure efficient and fair usage of compute resources.
