Erkelenz Abschluss Veranstaltung:
The strong force between nucleons has been at the core of nuclear physics since its inception. In recent decades, chiral effective field theory has enabled significant progress toward a quantitative understanding of nuclear interactions. This framework bridges nuclear physics and the underlying theory of the strong interaction by merging the ideas of meson field theory - co-developed by Klaus Erkelenz and collaborators - with modern concepts of effective field theory and chiral symmetry. I will outline the conceptual foundations of this method and discuss recent milestones as well as current frontiers.
