Description
Abstract:

The decay of B mesons is an excellent testbench for our understanding of the Standard Model of particle physics. Its plethora of decay modes provide numerous ways of improving our understanding of flavour physics. One integral part of the flavour model is the CKM matrix (V) that parametrises the quark interactions. The elements Vub and Vcb of this matrix can be determined by combining theory predictions and observations of semi-leptonic B decays. The long standing tension between the inclusive and exclusive measurements calls for the community to scrutinize it's approach. In this talk I will attempt to give an overview and introduction to the theory of inclusive semi-leptonic B decays, the Heavy Quark Expansion. I will discuss the recent efforts to understand the theoretical assumptions and the higher order corrections in heavy-to-heavy decays and discuss the status and prospects for heavy-to-light decays.
