Minutes of Meeting – IHL Coordination
Date: 15 May 2026
Participants: MK, QD
1. Composition of the IHL Search Committee
The composition of the search committee for the IHL Fellow positions was discussed.
- The conveners and IHL leaders are expected to be part of the committee.
- QD will contact Jochen to ask whether he would like to participate in the committee or suggest suitable candidates from University of Bonn.
- MK will contact Kevin regarding possible candidates from TU Dortmund University.
- QD will ask André whether he would be interested in participating in the committee.
The involvement of the conveners who were not present at the meeting will be discussed at a later stage.
2. Interview Procedure and Interview Location
The interview procedure for the IHL Fellow positions was discussed.
- The IHL leads agreed that at least one stage of the interview process should preferably take place in person.
- The final interview location has not yet been defined.
- QD will discuss possible arrangements with relevant people, e.g. Jochen, and gather feedback.
3. Additional IHL Fellow Advertisements
The topics and organisation of additional IHL Fellow advertisements were discussed.
Proposed areas include:
- Verification
- Analogue electronics / analogue systems
MK will revise the advertisement texts and circulate them to the relevant colleagues for feedback.
QD will discuss possible directions related to digital design (“Ichi”) with Jochen on Monday.
4. DFG Proposal Strategy
Ongoing and potential future DFG proposal activities were discussed.
- Several individual DFG proposals are currently being developed independently by different IHL members in the context of their own research interests, although some overlaps and possible synergies with IHL-related topics were noted during the discussion.
- MK and QD discussed the possibility of a joint project proposal on radiation-hard FPGA technologies for AI applications as a potentially interesting topic.
5. Coordination Structure and Meeting Frequency
The coordination structure for the IHL leadership was discussed.
- The IHL leads agreed to establish regular biweekly meetings.
- Meetings are planned for Fridays at 10:00.
- The next meeting of the IHL leads is scheduled for 29 May 2026.
6. Conveners and Joint Coordination
The coordination structure involving the conveners was briefly addressed.
- Since the conveners were not present, further discussion on coordination with the conveners will take place at a later meeting.
