Abstract: I will present the Parallel Tempering on Boundary Conditions (PTBC) algorithm and its implementation in SU(N) Yang-Mills theories and in Quantum Chromo-Dynamics (QCD) to mitigate the infamous topological freezing problem. I will discuss the main results achieved  with PTBC and the novel research directions I intend pursuing via its employment in the near future.
