DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Georg Hager\n\nDescription\nLIKWID stands for “Lik
e I Knew What I’m Doing.” It is a tool suite for performance-aware pro
gramming on modern clusters. LIKWID is in wide use at many computing cente
rs worldwide and can be employed on the full spectrum of platforms\, from
laptop to supercomputer.\nLIKWID comprises a spectrum of command-line tool
s and follows the UNIX philosophy of “one tool\, one purpose”:\n\nlikw
 id-topology\, a node-level topology exploration tool\nlikwid-pin\, for enf
 orcing thread-core affinity in thread-parallel programs\nlikwid-mpirun\, f
or starting MPI and MPI/OpenMP-hybrid programs and enforcing thread-core a
ffinity\nlikwid-perfctr\, for counting hardware events and measuring deriv
 ed metrics\nlikwid-bench\, a microbenchmarking framework\n\n \nA strong f
ocus will be on diagnostic performance engineering using hardware performa
nce counters on real application codes. Hands-on exercises will enable att
endees to consolidate the acquired knowledge.\nNote also our other worksho
 p from Georg Hager:\n"Node-Level Performance Engineering"\, https://indic
o.hiskp.uni-bonn.de/event/1305/\nWhen and where is the workshop held?\nThe
workshop is held in-person (no online participation possible) at the Hoch
schulrechenzentrum\, Wegelerstr. 6. You will be notified of the exact addr
ess and room when your registration is accepted.\nIt takes place from 9:00
to 17:00\, on Wednesday\, March 18\, 2026.\nYou need to register to parti
 cipate.\nDetailed schedule:\n\n9:00-10:30 Part 1\n10:30-11:00 Break\n11:00
 -12:30 Part 2\n12:30-13:30 Lunch break\n13:30-15:00 Part 3\n15:00-15:30 Br
eak\n15:30-17:00 Part 4\n\nWho can register\, and how?\nThe workshop is op
en to both Uni Bonn members (employees and students) and interested guests
from other organizations. However\, if there are too many registrations\,
Uni Bonn members have priority.\nWhen you register\, you will be put on a
waiting list. You will be notified by March 10 whether you were accepted.
\nPrerequisites and equipment\nCaution: This is not a beginner workshop! B
asic knowledge of the following topics is recommended:\n\nC/C++ or Fortran
programming and compilation\nBasic use of an HPC cluster\, particularly t
he Linux console\, SSH and SLURM\n\nIn order to be able to work on your ow
 n code\, you need access to a HPC cluster\, preferably Marvin\, and have y
our code ready on that machine. To access Marvin the course room PCs can b
 e used.\n\nhttps://indico.hiskp.uni-bonn.de/event/1306/
