DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Daniel Minge (uni-bonn)\, Petra Mutzel (uni-bonn)\,
Dirk Barbi (uni-bonn)\n\nAttend the Celebration!\nYou are invited to join
our interactive event including the following highlights:\n\nAnniversary C
elebration: Join us as we honor the second anniversary of Marvin's opening
. Let us discuss the state of the cluster\, technological developments\, a
nd possible chances for the future.\nInvited Talk by Dr. Georg Hager\, Hea
d of Research\nErlangen National High Performance Computing Center (NHR@FA
U): "Do the math! Pen-and-paper HPC for fun and profit"\n\nPoster Session
/ Short Presentations: Watch entertaining showcases of exciting research o
utcomes produced on Marvin and discuss with the authors.\nNetworking & Col
laboration: Connect with fellow researchers and exchange insights.\n\n \n
Register here. Registration is necessary to attend.\nThis event is jointly
organized by HPC@HRZ\, the HPC/A Lab and TRA Modelling.\nAbout our Invite
d Guest:\nGeorg Hager holds a PhD and a Habilitation degree in Computation
al Physics from the University of Greifswald. He leads the Research Divisi
on at Erlangen National High Performance Computing Center (NHR@FAU) and is
an associate lecturer at the Institute of Physics at the University of Gr
eifswald. Recent research includes architecture-specific optimization stra
tegies for current microprocessors\, performance engineering of scientific
codes on chip and system levels\, and the analytic modeling of structure
formation in large-scale parallel codes. Georg Hager has authored and co-a
uthored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and was instrumental in d
eveloping and refining the Execution-Cache-Memory (ECM) performance model
and energy consumption models for multicore processors. In 2018\, he won t
he “ISC Gauss Award” (together with Johannes Hofmann and Dietmar Fey)
for a paper on accurate performance and power modeling. He received the
“2011 Informatics Europe Curriculum Best Practices Award” (together wi
th Jan Treibig and Gerhard Wellein) for outstanding contributions to teach
ing in computer science. His textbook “Introduction to High Performance
Computing for Scientists and Engineers” is recommended or required readi
ng in many HPC-related lectures and courses worldwide. Together with colle
agues from FAU\, HLRS Stuttgart\, and TU Wien he develops and conducts suc
cessful international tutorials on node-level performance engineering and
hybrid programming.\nWorkshop and Hackathon:\nDr. Georg Hager joins us on
the two previous days for a workshop and a hackathon on performance engine
ering\, check these out:\n\n"Elements of Performance Engineering"\, https
