Description

Abstract:

The BESIII experiment records data of symmetric electron-positron collisions at centre-of-mass-energies ranging from 2-5 GeV. As the only modern experiment collecting data in these energy ranges, it allows unique opportunities to study exotic hadrons, light mesons, tau leptons, and charmed hadrons. In particular, data collected at open-charm thresholds allow for a number of unique opportunities in understanding charmed hadrons. This talk presents overview of the BESIII open-charm research programme, highlighting areas where BESIII makes unique contributions to the understanding of open-charmed hadrons. In particular, I will discuss leptonic and semileptonic decays of charmed hadrons, non-leptonic decays of charmed hadrons, and quantum correlations of charmed hadrons produced in electron-positron collisions. I will also comment on the future prospects for this programme of research.
