DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Michael Wurm (Uni-Mainz)\n\nThe Jiangmen Underground
Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is a 20 kiloton multi-purpose liquid scintill
ator detector located in South China. After completion of detector constru
ction\, JUNO has started data taking in August 2025.JUNO’s primary goal
is to determine the neutrino mass ordering\, with an expected significance
of 3-4 sigma in about six years. Sensitivity arises from the modulations
induced by neutrino oscillations in the energy spectrum of reactor electro
n antineutrinos from two nuclear power plants at 53 km. Based on the first
few months of data\, JUNO will be able to perform a precision measurement
of neutrino oscillation parameters. This talk will explore the current s
tatus of JUNO’s measurement program. It will highlight as well the exper
iment's future physics potential in the observation of neutrinos from astr
 ophysical sources.  Join Zoom Meetinghttps://uni-bonn.zoom-x.de/j/662535
