 ber of strange baryons\, historically termed hyperons\, are produced at th
 e LHC. The lifetimes of ground state hyperons are two orders of magnitude 
 larger than those of beauty and charm hadrons\, which the LHCb detector wa
 s specifically built to reconstruct. I will highlight advantages and limit
 ations in the reconstruction of hyperons at LHCb\, and showcase the physic
 s prospects of decays involving hyperons\, with a focus on spectroscopy.
